Weaknesses

• Products are not mature or tailored for sophisticated restaurants.

• App market model results in high prices.

• High cost for hardware, depending on the sales channel purchased through.

• Highly variable processing rates.

• Minimal innovation.

Hardware

• SkyTab hardware is more affordable and just as good (if not better) of a form factor.

• SkyTab is owned by Shift4 and has the experience of all our legacy POS brands.

• A third of restaurants in North America use Shift4.

Features & Benefits

• SkyTab is more feature rich and purpose-built for restaurants.

• Lower cost of ownership over the long run; especially with hardware included in the cost.

Innovation

• SkyTab is built exclusively for restaurants, whereas Clover is a “one-size-fits-all” product used by restaurants, barber shops, retailers, etc.

• Clover is slow to innovate in the restaurant space. SkyTab regularly releases updates with new features.

Pricing

• Clover boasts a low price, but total cost is higher because you have to pay for additional products through their app market and are raising prices.

• Clover hardware is very expensive (unless it's being subsidized by a reseller, in which case the processing rates may be high).

• Extensive reseller network means some merchants may be on high-rate schedules.
